My Dearest Sarah,

If you will allow me some of your time, I will share with you stories from my life all with a purpose in mind.
My plan is to offer you one or more each week until…

These stories will contain some of the costly lessons I have learned during my time here on earth.  Some
of these readings you may find stale and slow especially at first however I will make you this promise, if
you are willing to read through them all you will gain wisdom and insight which will save you making
mistakes I have already made.  Mistakes I have already proven to be mistakes and in some cases many
times over.

These writing are not an exact science.  They are simply a collection of my experiences recorded for your
benefit.  My plan is to link them together eventually leaving you in possession of one big one which will
become a book that you can later revert back to for strength encouragement and guidance.  Perhaps one
day you will read them to your own children.  I expect that you should be able to relate to them because
even though they are from my life, many of them have also helped to form and have had an impact on
yours.

I have paid dearly for the wisdom for which I am going to give to you in exchange for your time.  I take
the time to record these lessons hoping that you will grow into a wise woman wise enough to apply what
I have learned during my life to yours.  I would rather you read about, laugh, cry and learn from my
mistakes on paper as opposed to you living them on your own.  Of course you will make your fair share of
mistakes and that is only natural however it is my prayer that I might save you time recovering from those
which I have already made.  I have made many mistakes in my time.  I have made so many I have
forgotten plenty of them even though I still live with the consequences of some.  Some of them you are
indirectly living with right now whether you realize it or not.  I pray you can forgive me for that.

There was a time when I was careless with life.  I took for granted the love afforded me by others.  I took
for granted the wonder that placed you, your brother and your sisters in my care.  Those mistakes can
never be undone however the results can be curved, hence the reason I have chosen you to receive this
essay.

You stated that you felt I loved your brother more than I love you.  I am here to tell you that’s incorrect.  I
love each of you the same amount just in different ways.  As part of my covenant to you to show you my
love for you; I will dedicate each week a few hours to collecting my thoughts and recording them in words
for your benefit and entertainment.

Because of your age, much of what I share may not make sense to you at this time.  If you will find a safe
place to store these letter so that you can return to them when you are feeling beaten by life as time
goes by, I am sure they will speak to your heart and encourage your spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father, even I do not know why at this point You have set me on a journey to record this
history and entrust it to our precious Sarah.  I trust you so I will do it.  Thank You for the relationship that will
come about as a result.   Thank you for the second chance You have given me to be father to each of my
children.  Bless Laura Ann and watch over her where ever she is.  Touch her heart that she would know she is
both loved and missed.
