when I was out to see which cars I had already had when I was in the middle of
buying more. I hate to pay up for a car I already have. With all the variations they
have today it is hard to keep track. Just the same, you are welcome to browse.
They say when you give up one bad habit you have to replace it with something healthy.
Well, when I gave up cocaine; I started collecting Hotwheels. Being the excessive
compulsive personality that I am; I went hog wild buying cars with a reckless abandon.
Everyone around me thought I had gone nuts. At one point, I had.
Finally I leveled off and decided to sell a few since they were taking up an enormous
amount of space. I started selling them off auction style and many brought more than I had
paid for them just a few years prior. Some even doubled in money and others tripled.
"Wow!" I thought. "Why stop now?" So I didn't. I started buying even more. At first I
purchased as many cars as I could afford. Big ones, little one, cheap ones and even a few
very expensive ones. I tried to buy everything I did not have. After a few years I leveled off
again and decided to stream line my collecting. I began to sell everything that did not fit the
profile which was formerly known as Hotwheels First Editions, now known as New Models.
This is my New Model Collection.
Even though I still buy all kinds of cars, I only collect First Editions / New Models. One day I
will hold a grand auction featuring my personal collection. By the time I am ready to hang
up my hat, it should have appreciated quite nicely. Who knows, when I get to that point
maybe I won't even want to sell them, perhaps I will just pass them down to my son. Shux, if
he can keep them in the packages as I have and maintain their condition, he will have a
gold mine by the time he is my age. Can you imagine what the 1995 First Edition series
will be worth in thirty years? How about the VW Bus from 1996 which is already worth forty
by itself? Woo-hoo!
