WELCOME TO TIPS & TRICKS
this months trick is called
WHEEL WELLS
October 2008
Have you ever seen a pretty nice looking car with rust around the wheel wells? You know why?  As you drive your tires toss
debris up into the wheel lip where it stays until you clean it out.  Most people never do.  After each rain and or snow this
debris builds up.  This debris hangs out in that lip holding moisture until it decides to eat its way through the metal from the
inside out.  By the time you see it bubbling through your panel, it is too late.  The metal has already become very weak and
will need to be ground away to remove what we car people affectionately call cancer.  If you know how to do it yourself it can
be fun but for most it is not something they look forward to doing.  If you do not know how to do, it can also be expensive to
pay someone who does.  On the other hand it is very inexpensive to take a couple of extra minutes when washing your car
to run a brush under there followed by a few high pressure squirts of the hose.  This will go a long way making your car last
and look pretty much longer.  If you really want to go all out?  Keep a few cheap cans of flat black spray paint in the garage.
Every so often, after washing you car spray a layer of paint in the wheel well.  Not only will this improve the over all
appearance of your vehicle, it will protect against the possibility of rust that starts in unseen places until it eats its way
through.
Happy motoring & see you next month...
